New Guidance to the Rules for Mobile Offshore Units Gard 2023-05-06 17:11

Gard launches a new niche publication to provide increased clarity around how P&I insurance for mobile offshore units works in practice.

The new publication, Guidance to the Rules for Mobile Offshore Units, adds to Gard’s already extensive portfolio of knowledge-sharing material and insurance publications, which includes the standard Guidance to the Rules, the newly revised Guidance on Stowaways, and others.

The insurance terms for mobile offshore units naturally reflect the special characteristics and risks pertaining to such operations. With this in mind, we hope the new Guidance will contribute to increased clarity and contract certainty as well as further interest both externally and internally about how our insurance is intended to work. The publication will be updated yearly depending on changes in the underlying standard terms of cover.

The new Guidance is published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Gard’s involvement with P&I insurance of mobile offshore units which will be celebrated later this year. In fact, Gard’s publication program as a whole also celebrates its 50th anniversary. The first edition of the Gard Handbook on P&I Insurance was published in 1972.
