Hong Kong Marine Department Offers Incentives of Up to HK$2,000,000 for Green Maritime Fuel Bunkering! Xinde Marine News Chen Yang 2025-07-03 23:16

The Hong Kong Marine Department has officially launched the Green Maritime Fuel Bunkering Incentive Scheme aimed at accelerating the green transformation of the maritime industry. The scheme offers financial rewards of up to HK$2,000,000 to pioneer companies that take the first steps in establishing green maritime fuel bunkering operations in Hong Kong.

Key Highlights:
Incentive Amount: Eligible companies can receive HK$500,000 per bunkering operation, up to HK$2,000,000 per fuel type (Liquefied Natural Gas LNG and Green Methanol).
Eligibility: Companies that are Hong Kong-registered or have a Hong Kong subsidiary, and own or have access to at least one licensed bunkering vessel, are eligible for the Scheme.
First-Movers Incentive: Pioneering companies will be rewarded for conducting their first two bunkering operations within one year from the Marine Department’s acceptance of their risk assessments.
First Come, First Served: Incentives are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Companies can complete up to two operations per fuel type to qualify for the reward.

How it Works:
Successful applicants will receive incentives for their first two successful bunkering operations within the eligibility period.
Each bunkering operation must meet the Department’s requirements and be completed within one year from risk assessment approval.
The incentive will help level the playing field for pioneer companies, encouraging early adoption of green fuel technologies.

The IMO's net-zero carbon emissions target for 2050 is a global priority, and Hong Kong aims to remain at the forefront of green maritime initiatives.

The Scheme supports the growth of Hong Kong’s green maritime fuel bunkering industry, capitalizing on the city’s strategic location and global maritime network.
