China is speeding up resumption of main projects in various regions, with governments at all levels rolling out supportive policies and regulations to recover work effectively while continuing to impose strict control of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Party and government research groups on work resumption have been conducting in-depth investigations in 10 cities in south China's Guangdong Province since Saturday, while relevant departments of the Guangdong provincial government have been working to help resume construction of key projects.
The project of the Taipingling nuclear power plant with an estimated investment of 120 billion yuan in Huizhou City is well underway, with 27 construction units in charge of the project having resumed work completely with assistance of 68 stationed epidemic control working groups.
There have been no suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases among the 4,068 employees engaged in the project since the work resumed on Feb. 17. The Guangdong provincial government have direct connections with relevant local governments to help bring the employees back to work.
"Thanks to the efforts of local governments at all levels from the province to the city and the county, corresponding green channels have been opened for us, in terms of related procedures for work resumption, some taxation and fees, and some corresponding support according to policies, which are greatly helpful to our entire work resumption at present," said Li Jing, president of the Huizhou Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. under the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), adding that the favorable policies are good for them to maintain investment plan for the project this year and keep their work target unchanged.
The Taipingling nuclear power project is expected to provide over 50 billion kilowatt-hour of green electricity annually for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
As a major province of foreign trade, Guangdong's key projects and major foreign-funded projects have largely all resumed production.
With a total investment of 12.33 billion yuan, Shenzhen's new airport runway started construction on Tuesday .
"The new runway, the third of the Shenzhen airport, will upgrade the airport's radiation and handling capacity, while driving the great development for the convention and exhibition industry in the entire northern area of Shenzhen," said Nie Xinping, head of the Shenzhen municipal development and reform commission.
In south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the shipping artery on the Xijiang River, an important trade route in south and southwest China, has resumed navigation and saw a peak of traffic on Tuesday.
The Xiong'an New Area in north China's Hebei Province has fully recovered its construction of three expressways.
