On March 10, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers issued an announcement saying that Ding Nong resigned as chairman due to job changes.

The board of directors of COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers elected Mr. Chen Wei as the chairman of the company's seventh board of directors.

The data shows that the term of chairman Ding Nong is from September 2017 to December 2021. Chen Wei previously served as director, vice chairman and general manager of COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers.

In addition, on the same day, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers also announced that the company plans to build 8 62,000-ton multi-purpose pulp carriers at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry’s Dalian yard on the basis of 12 multi-purpose pulp carriers that have been invested in.

Four of the vessels will be registered as Hong Kong flag and the price is $33.68m per vessel, while the price for the other four Chinese-flagged vessels is RMB268m ($38.5m) per vessel.

In recent years, the price of shipbuilding has fallen sharply. Under the current circumstances, the investment in shipbuilding is conducive to seizing the opportunity of shipbuilding market, counter-cyclical operation and low-cost development.
