Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and Guangzhou Shipyard International Receive 12 Oil Tanker Orders xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2020-03-10 16:11

Shell and Bank of Communications Financial Leasing started a cooperation on 12 dual-fuel LR2 tankers with a total contract value of nearly US $ 650 million. The project was fully funded by Bank of Communications Financial Leasing, and no other shipping company participated in the transaction. The ships will be built at Chinese state-owned shipyards.
 
According to industry sources, Guangzhou Shipyard International won the construction contract for eight ships, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding won the construction contract for four ships, and the new ship is scheduled to be delivered in 2022.
 
Whether there are alternatives for this batch of 120,000 dwt tankers has not been announced yet.
 
According to maritime sources, the cost of a single ship is about US $54 million, and newbuilding has been awarded a 15-year charter contract.
