On October 20, the 6th World Internet Conference opened in Wuzhen, Zhenjiang Province. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the conference. Mr. Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, read the congratulatory letter and delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the conference.
With the theme of “Intelligent Interconnection for Openness and Cooperation: Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace”, the conference brought together more than 1,500 guests from over 80 countries and regions.
Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Capt. Xu Lirong attended the Business Leader’s Dialogue and delivered a keynote speech titled “Deep Challenges from a High Degree of Integration between Technology and Industry”. According to Capt. Xu, digital innovations in shipping should focus on fields such as freight volume, loading rate, low cost and freight revenue, to make online technology experience truly create value for off-line customers. General technology should be adjusted and extended to accommodate different industrial application scenarios based on the particular and individual demands of specific industries, markets and customers. To make the best use of technological progress, it should be integrated with the development direction of a specific industry and also be consistent with the development level of such industry, which means technology cannot be backward or too advanced.
The Business Leader’s Dialogue, with the theme of “Innovative Economy, Shared Community”, attracted about 500 guests, including leading figures in the global Internet industry, representatives of leading companies, renowned experts and scholars, and entrepreneurs from various social sectors.
