On October 29, SITC International Holdings Co., Ltd. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SITC Shipowning, has exercised its option to build two additional 1,800 TEU container ships with Huanghai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The total contract price for these vessels is USD 57.96 million (approx. RMB 414 million), with delivery expected by June 30 and August 31, 2027.
Earlier this year, SITC signed a “4+6” contract with Huanghai Shipbuilding for 1,800 TEU container ships, initially securing four vessels with the option for six more. The confirmed orders now total six ships, reaching USD 174 million, with the potential for a full ten-ship contract valued at USD 290 million (approx. RMB 2.07 billion).
This partnership follows SITC's 2022 order for ten 1,800 TEU ships from Huanghai, built to a high-efficiency design that includes optimized propellers, twisted rudders, SCR, scrubber systems, and 258 reefer plugs. Meeting Tier III emissions standards, these vessels are aligned with SITC's commitment to sustainable and efficient operations.
As a leading Asia-based shipping and logistics company headquartered in Hong Kong, SITC operates an extensive network across 84 major ports, serving markets in mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. With 108 container ships under management (including 99 owned vessels) and 182,000 TEU capacity, SITC ranks as the 14th largest container liner globally (Alphaliner, 2024).
This expansion strengthens SITC's commitment to offering comprehensive and efficient logistics solutions across Asia.
