COSCO SHIPPING Lines Signs Contract for 12 Methanol Dual-Fuel 14,000 TEU Container Ships

On August 29, 2024, COSCO SHIPPING Lines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Holdings, signed a contract with Yangzhou COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry in Shanghai for the construction of twelve 14,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessels designed for Latin American routes.

This series of vessels, jointly designed by COSCO SHIPPING Lines, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, and the China Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Design Institute, embodies innovative design and advanced technology. These ships boast strong route adaptability, large reefer container capacity, environmental sustainability, and smart features.

Key specifications:
Length: 335.9 meters
Width: 51 meters
Features: Invisible bulbous bow, aft energy-saving devices, methanol dual-fuel engines for both main and auxiliary generators, the world's largest capacity permanent magnet shaft generator, bow fairing, proprietary air lubrication system, and an intelligent ship system.
Compliance: EEDI Phase III energy efficiency standards and the latest cybersecurity regulations.

By utilizing green methanol fuel, these vessels will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the IMO's vision for decarbonizing the shipping industry.

This contract marks another milestone in COSCO SHIPPING Lines' commitment to innovation and sustainability in global shipping.
