WAN HAI will order 9 13000TEU container ships


Wan Hai Lines approved the purchase of 9 13,000 TEU container ships with a total value of up to $1.035 billion. The new ships are expected to be delivered in 2023. It has not yet been confirmed which shipyard will build the new ship.
 
This batch of ships in the future can sail the western United States, the west coast of South America or India, the Middle East and other medium and long range routes.
 
Wan Hai has been actively buying ships since last year. In the past three months, Wan Hai Lines has spent $565 million to order 12 3013TEU container ships.
 
Wan Hai approved the purchase of existing vessels for $360 million in December last year. As of February 2, Wan Hai has bought 11 container ships between 4,000 TEU and 6,000 TEU for about $303 million.
 
In addition, Wan Hai has taken delivery of five of the 20 container ships ordered in 2018, with another 15 under construction, including four 3055TEU and 11 2038TEU container ships.
 
In February, Wan Hai's revenue was NT $12.263 billion, up 144.65% year on year and down 9.46%  month on month, with average daily revenue of NT $438 million, up from NT $436 million in January.
 
This year, only the first two months of the New Year, the global container ship new orders and intention orders are already 50% more than the whole of 2019 new orders.
