In the first half of this year, China again took the lead in three major indicators of the global shipbuilding industry, maintaining its record as the world's No. 1.
China dominated the most new orders, accounting for 65.4% of global transactions with 11.31 million DWT, compared with 23.7% in South Korea and 8.8% in Japan.
In terms of handheld orders, China's shipyards accounted for 48.3% of the global handset orders with 78.65 million DWT. South Korea's 28.2% and Japan's 19%;
Due to the impact of the epidemic, normal trade activities were restricted in the first half of this year. The turnover of new ships around the world shrank by 51% compared with the same period last year. Among them, the number of orders received by South Korea dropped by nearly 50% and that of Japan by more than 85%.
In the first half of this year, China's market share of new orders has increased significantly. The most important reason is the timely implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures in China and the orderly progress of work and production resumption.
