72 turbines of offshore wind farm in China start operation xinde marine news 2018-12-25 23:57

China's farthest offshore wind farm came into use on Thursday in Yancheng, east China's Jiangsu Province, as 72 turbines of the farm's third phase project started operation in full capacity.

The third phase project is 43 kilometers away from the coastline and involves a sea area of 90 square kilometers.

With an installed gross capacity of 302,400 kilowatts, the turbines are expected to generate 850 million kilowatt hours' electricity next year.

The State Power Investment Corporation Limited used 202 days to install the 72 turbines, accumulating rich experience for China to construct large-scale offshore wind farm with large capacity.

According to a national plan, the capacity of China's offshore wind farms including those under construction should reach 10 million kilowatts by 2020. Meanwhile, the grid-connected generating capacity should be more than five million kilowatts.
