On December 18, the “Green Energy Pearl”, the second LNG transport vessel of the CNOOC project, was officially named at the Changxing Island Terminal of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai. The ceremony was honored by esteemed guests including Yan Hongtao (CNOOC Vice GM), Zhang Feng (COSCO Shipping Group Vice GM), and Meicun Naoshou (Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Executive Officer), among others.

This vessel is part of a strategic collaboration initiated in January 2022 between COSCO Shipping, CNOOC, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. Together, they have invested in building six 174,000 cubic meter LNG ships to enhance the efficiency and reliability of LNG transportation. The “Green Energy Pearl” stands out with its 299 meters length, 46.2 meters beam, and 174,000 cubic meters cargo capacity. Classified by both ABS and CCS, it meets the highest international standards for low-carbon and energy-efficient shipping.
