Taiwan's CPC gets 1st Ichthys LNG cargo xinde marine news 2018-11-27 14:39

Taiwan’s state-owned CPC Corporation said on Monday it received its first cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Inpex-operated Ichthys project in Australia.

LNG carrier Pacific Breeze, that previously loaded a cargo at the Ichthys plant located near Darwin, arrived at the CPC-owned Yung-An LNG terminal in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on Monday.

The 182,000-cbm LNG vessel Pacific Breeze has also in October delivered the first-ever Ichthys LNG cargo to Japan.

The vessel, which is one of the world’s largest among MOSS-type LNG tankers, will transport 1.75 million tonnes of Ichthys-produced LNG per year allocated to CPC under a long-term deal signed back in 2012.

CPC has also a 2.625 percent share in the giant $40 billion Ichthys LNG project.

As previously reported, the LNG export project sent its first LNG cargo to Japan in October just after shipping the first condensate cargo.

The Ichthys LNG project has also recently started shipping liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the onshore gas liquefaction plant in Darwin in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Besides Inpex and CPC, the project partners include French energy giant Total and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
