San Marino Achieves Full Implementation of the STCW Convention San Marino Ship Register 2025-10-10 11:44

The Administration confirms commitment to the highest standards of seafarer training and certification
 
Republic of San Marino, October 8th, 2025 – Following consultation with the International Maritime Organisation’s dedicated panel, the San Marino Maritime Authority and Ship Register announced completing the full implementation of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), reaching a significant milestone in the country’s commitment to global maritime safety and regulatory compliance.
 
In cooperation with the IMO, the Maritime Authority and Ship Register are fully aligned with the STCW Convention and all its most recent amendments. Since its creation, San Marino Ship Register has been offering fully compliant digital seafarer endorsements with live online verification, following international guidelines. Moreover, the Administration cooperated with the IMO to establish limited seafarer certification for Masters and Chief Officers on board small and large yachts below 500GT engaged in trade.
 
San Marino’s full adoption of the STCW Convention confirms its commitment to creating a national maritime industry and community, aligning with international efforts to promote safe and sustainable shipping practices.
