A professional rescue vessel started to be put into service on Friday on the Zhubi Rock, the Nansha Islands.
The ship, Nanhaijiu 115, was dispatched by the Nanhai Rescue Bureau under the Ministry of Transport. The main task of the vessel is to carry out marine salvage and await orders.
Nanhaijiu 115, designed and built by China, is a modern professional marine rescue ship with a flying platform for medium helicopters to take off and land on.
"It will be mainly used for aeronautical and maritime search and rescue. For example, we can transport stranded people and the wounded at sea rapidly, so as to rescue them efficiently. What's more, the vessel is also equipped with drainage equipment to deal with ocean oil pollution," said Chen Baizhao, captain of the vessel Nanhaijiu 115.
In addition, Nanhaijiu 115 also has the function of marine fire protection.
"Currently we adopt a rotation mechanism for sailors, and one cycle is about two or three months," said Zhang Guiping, deputy director general of the South China Sea Rescue Bureau.
