Decarbonisation expert Cato Espero joins SSY to oversee Offshore Projects and Alternative Fuel Solutions SSY 2024-08-07 08:32

SSY, the world’s largest independent shipbroker, has announced the appointment of Cato Espero to the newly created role of Offshore Project Director & Head of Alternative Fuel Solutions, effective immediately.

 
Espero, a decarbonization specialist with a career spanning over three decades, has been working in the maritime and offshore sectors since 1997, holding senior positions across various global companies. In 2012, he joined Wärtsilä Corporation, a global leading technology company in his native Norway, where he held several key roles related to sales and future energy solutions. Since 2018, Espero has spearheaded the Wärtsilä’s led ZEEDS Initiative, an industry collaboration project focused on finding the fastest route to zero emissions in shipping. This initiative has served as an important incubator for Wärtsilä’s decarbonization strategy.
 
Working out of SSY’s Oslo and London offices, Espero will work alongside the global Offshore, Sale and Purchase and Newbuilding teams as they continue to develop and refine their alternative fuels and decarbonisation proposition.
