On September 9, COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers announced that the comapny plans to raise 3.3 billion yuan. The funds raised from this issuance will be used for chartering 29 multi-purpose pulp ships, constructing 1 65,000 dwt semi-submersible ship, and supplementing working capital.

The above chartering includes 8 62,000 dwt multi-purpose pulp ships, 12 70,000 dwt multi-purpose pulp ships, 5 68,000 dwt multi-purpose pulp ships, and the construction of 1 65,000 dwt semi-submersible ship. The total investment amount for the project is 474.1656 million US dollars, equivalent to RMB 3302.801 million.
COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers stated that it plans to have COSCO (H.K.) Shipping as the investment entity to purchase and build a 65,000 dwt semi-submersible ship in Guangzhou Shipyard International, with a total investment of US$121.8 million, equivalent to RMB 848.3979 million. The company plans to use the raised funds to pay 681.50 million yuan. The semi-submersible vessel is expected to be launched in January 2024.
As of the end of June 2023, the company owns and controls 116 ships of various types such as multi-purpose ships, heavy-lift ships, semi-submersible ships, pulp ships, woodchip carriers, asphaltum carriers and PCTCs, with a deadweight of 3.941 million dwt.
