The Merger of OSM Maritime Group and Thome formally Approved Xinde Marine News Lydia Miao 2023-05-23 16:16

The merger of OSM Maritime Group and Thome Group has acquired official approval of competition authorities, announcing the establishment of a brand new shipping management company named OSM Thome on Monday.

As the largest ship management merger ever, OSM Thome will have a much wider network than before, with 29,000 seafarers, 2,000 onshore staff and offices covering 22 countries including Northern Europe, Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok, Cyprus, Perth in Australia, Shanghai in China, etc.. Its headquarters will be in Arendal, Norway.

Xinde Marine News has conducted an exclusive interview last month with Tommy Olofsen, President and CCO of OSM Maritime. He said they are still waiting for regulatory approval and it is expected to have all the approvals by May.

When discussing about the merger and future plan, he argued that “The future of ship management business will be challenging. But with larger scale and wider network coverage, we will certainly have higher efficiency and better able to face the challenges.”

The number of ships under OSM Thome management will hit 1,000 after merger. According to Finn Amund Nordbye, CEO of OSM Thome, they will strengthen their position “as an innovative and world-leading supplier of ship management services” and continue to focus on areas such as  safe and efficient management, digitalisation, cyber security and green shipping.

Clicking on the link of the new company, the new logo appears. OSM’s compass design has been inherited, adding red, Thome’s theme color .

In the statement released on its official website, “It’s all about people” is still highlighted and will continuously be OSM Thome’s mark. With all the challenges ahead, hope the newborn Norwegian company will achieve more accomplishments and leading the industry into a bright future.
