On October 15, 2022, China's first onshore LNG membrane full containment tank successfully started operation in Hejian City, Hebei Province, China. The LNG storage tank implements the latest generation of GTT onshore membrane full containment GST technology. The project is invested by Huagang Gas Group and constructed by EPC Contractor CPECC North China and membrane tank containment system outfitter Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. The total investment of Huagang Gas Hejian LNG Peak-shaving Station Project is 272 million RMB, equipped with a 29,000 m3 LNG membrane full containment tank and supporting facilities. The maximum regasification and gas supply capacity is 1 million standard m3 per day.

Themembrane full containment tank of this project adopted mature and state-of-art membranefull containment tank GST technology. Compared with other traditional type of fullcontainment tank, the membrane tank is more compact. This membrane tank has alsoattractive technical and economic merits in improving operational safety and reliability, increasing net storage capacity, extending service life, shorteningconstruction period, and achieving low-carbon footprint. The completion andstart-up of this LNG membrane full containment tank has indicated thatdiversified types of LNG full containment tanks have been established in China.
