OOIL Publishes Sustainability Report 2021 OOIL 2022-05-05 16:22

Orient Overseas (International) Limited published its Sustainability Report 2021. This report covers the significant environmental, economic and social aspects of OOIL and its subsidiaries. The launch of our 11th annual Sustainability Report demonstrates the Group's long-term commitment to corporate sustainability, as well to transparency with and accountability to its stakeholders.

The Group has consistently taken a leadership role in advancing sustainability, through implementing numerous initiatives to address environmental and business challenges. To enhance the integration of the principle of sustainable development into corporate governance structure, OOIL has in place a cross-departmental ESG Working Team to oversee key ESG issues and to further strengthen the Group's strategies and policies in this regard.

We have adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in order to reaffirm our commitment to key global issues including climate change, air pollution, biodiversity loss, marine environment degradation, and energy consumption. Over the years, we have implemented numerous green initiatives in our operations, including focusing on bunker saving programmes to achieve our targets. By taking these initiatives, OOCL has successfully reduced the fleet's direct greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 45% since 2008. By reducing our emissions, we are able to help our customers achieve a lower carbon footprint in their supply chains.
