COSCO Shipping Ports handles 8.6 million TEU in January 2022 HKSG Group 2022-02-23 09:32

COSCO Shipping Ports has handled 8.6 million TEU across all of its terminals in January 2022, reports London's Port Technology.

The company's terminals in the Bohai Rim saw a monthly throughput of 1.2 million TEU, down 13.4 per cent compared to the same month in 2021.

Tianjin Container Terminals processed 674,100 TEU, finishing the best in the region.

However, Dalian Dagang Container Terminal Co had the worst result across the whole Cosco terminal portfolio, handling 1,800 TEU.

Terminals in the Yangtze River Delta region decreased one per cent year over year, seeing a combined total of 1.3 million TEU in January.

Along the southeast coast, Cosco terminals grew 9.1 per cent year on year in January with a throughput of 540,000 TEU.

The Pearl River Delta region was up 6.2 per cent in the month to 2.3 million TEU.

Beibu Gulf Port Co volume grew 3.7 per cent to 485,300 TEU.

COSCO reported a 12.8 per cent increase of 2.6 million TEU for its overseas terminals.

In this sector, SSA Terminals (Seattle), saw the largest increase in throughput, up 33.2 per cent to 19,800 TEU.
