Shanghai Port will become the third port in the world with LNG bunkering service capability Xinde Marine News Sarah Yu 2022-02-22 16:50

In Yangshan port area of Shanghai port, a world's largest 20000 m3 LNG bunkering ship is to provide LNG bunkering service for the container liner of CMA CGM in the coming March.

This will be the "first order in China" for bonded LNG bunkering business of international navigation ships, and it also means that Shanghai port will become the third port in the world with LNG bunkering service capability after Rotterdam port in the Netherlands and Singapore port.

The new business will help improve the service function of Shanghai port, attract dual fuel international ships to stop, enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of Shanghai international shipping center and promote the sustainable development of shipping industry.

In the past two years, the epidemic has brought many challenges to the global port and shipping industry, but Shanghai port has repeatedly broken the records of throughput and production efficiency, becoming the "reassurance" of the international logistics supply chain.

In 2021, the container throughput of Shanghai port increased significantly by 8.1% year-on-year, exceeding 47 million TEUs. Yangshan port area, as the highland of Shanghai port, performed particularly well. The annual throughput exceeded 22.8 million TEUs, with a year-on-year increase of 12.8%.
