The ISCC CORSIA is a new scheme eligible for certification of Sustainable Aviation Fuels

On November 12th, RINA issued the first ISCC CORSIA SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) certificate in China to Jiangsu Shenou Environmental Protection Technology Co.Ltd. The company, mainly focused on scientific research and production of environmental equipment, is also the first organization in China to obtain the ISCC CORSIA certification.

The delivery ceremony was held at RINA Shanghai office, where Mr. Rosario Distefano, Director of RINA Asia Certification, handed over the certificate to Mr. Xiaochang GE, Deputy manager of Shenou. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Zhou, manager of RINA Shanghai Certification, and other colleagues.

The ISCC CORSIA certification system was accredited by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) at the end of 2020. It is a voluntary scheme eligible for certification of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) under the requirements of Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). With the ISCC CORSIA certification, the raw material collectors, traders, producers and airline companies of SAF can demonstrate compliance with the sustainability and GHG criteria for CORSIA-eligible fuels.

The urgent need to lower greenhouse gas emissions has been recognized by the aviation industry. ICAO Member States are committed to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from air transportation. RINA is also committed to provide high quality solutions to support all the industries including the aviation sector in the transition towards a carbon-neutral future.
