1.The global standard of 0.5% m/m sulfur content in ship fuel will come into effect on January 1, 2020. At present, there are three ways for ships to meet this standard.

2.China’s State Council has approved the merger country’s two largest shipbuilders, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC). 

3.The Secretary-General of ISA Mr. Michael W. Lodge signed a MoU to establish the first ever joint training and research center with Mr. Wang Hong, Administrator of State Oceanic Administration of China.

4.Hong Kong-based carrier Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) said both container volumes and revenue were higher in the third quarter this year than in 2018.

5.China's new-type deep ocean research vessel Dong Fang Hong 3 officially joined in the Dong Fang Hong research fleet of the Ocean University of China on Friday. 

6.From October 21 to 26, 2019, a delegation led by Chairman Capt. Xu Lirong and Executive Vice President Mr. Huang Xiaowen of COSCO SHIPPING visited Chinese oil giants in Beijing.

7.CNOOC Ltd, the listed arm of China's largest offshore oil and gas producer, reported on October 24 a 27.9% jump in capital spending in the third quarter amid Beijing's push to boost oil and gas exploration and production. 

8.The Hong Kong Government announced today (October 25) that the Chief Executive has approved the establishment of the Process Review Panel (PRP) for the Insurance Authority (IA) on November 1, 2019.
