China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) has completed its first bunkering operation of a large LNG-powered vessel with more than 250 tonnes bunkered on the Salamanca ship.
Sinopec's unit Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales bunkered the chilled fuel for the vessel “W0269” in the Chinese province of Shandong.
The company also stated that this is its first time to fuel a large LNG-powered vessel. It stressed the importance of contributing to emission reduction from ships and the energy transition of the shipping industry.
The vessel is Brittany Ferries' newest E-Flexer cruise ferry Salamanca. It is currently under construction at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Shandong.
