CMA CGM successfully delivered LNG–powered vessel 'CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS' CMA CGM 2021-02-05 15:06

2021 has successfully begun for CMA CGM as one more newly-built LNG–powered vessel, the CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS, was officially delivered at the shipyard of CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

Named after the stars that guide our seafarers in open seas, the CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS is the first of two 1,400 TEU LNG-powered short-sea vessels to enter commercial operations in Europe.

In committing to the use of LNG, an energy with a bright future, helps to preserve air quality, the CMA CGM Group has made the resolute choice to go beyond current environmental regulations, and the use of LNG as an alternative energy source is a critical part of our energy transition strategy. By 2022, no less than 26 LNG-powered vessels will fly the CMA CGM flag, on the shipping industry's journey towards net-zero carbon emissions.

The CMA CGM Group has invited Ms. Bin Li, General Manager of Midea International Logistics Technology Co. Ltd, to be the godmother of CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS.  Midea Group is a Fortune 500 company of 52 years manufacturing excellence and global leading robotic and automation technology. On this very special occasion, Ms. Bin Li named the vessel and blessed the CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS and its crew members.

In a few days, the CONTAINERSHIPS BOREALIS will start her voyage from China to northern Europe where she will begin work in the fleet of our short sea brands CONTAINERSHIPS.
