COSCO Shipping Energy: Naming Ceremony of the LNG Carrier CESI WENZHOU
On January 25, the naming ceremony of CESI WENZHOU, an AP LNG project co-operated by COSCO Shipping Energy and Sinopec Kantons and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), was held at the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard.
It is learned that CESI WENZHOU is the fifth of six LNG sister ships in the AP LNG project and one of the first large-scale LNG carriers in the world to adopt dual-fuel electric propulsion system. She will be shipping LNG routes from Australia to China with a total annual capacity of over 1 million tons, sending steady clean energy to millions of households.
Qin Jiong, deputy general manager of COSCO Shipping Energy, said that CESI WENZHOU is the 16th LNG ship put into operation invested by COSCO Shipping Energy and another 22 LNG vessels under construction will be delivered by 2020.
Qin Jiong introduced that after more than ten years of development, China's LNG transport enterprises have grown into an important force in the world LNG transport stage. Recently, the Yamal project and the LNG transport of the Arctic waterway opened by the company have caused great concern in the industry. COSCO Shipping Energy is the actual developer of this "Ice-Silk Road" on the Arctic LNG shipping route.

According to the latest statistics from S & P Global Platts, China's LNG import volume in 2017 was 37.89 million tons, up 48.37% over the same period of the previous year, China has become the world's second largest LNG importer.
"China has taken a pivotal position in the global energy pattern." Qin Jiong said. And he added, “while China is accelerating its green energy revolution, COSCO Shipping Energy is bound to play an increasingly important role in the global LNG transport arena as China LNG transport industry’s flagship.
