On May 29, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, People's Government of Guangdong Province and CNOOC signed the cooperation framework agreement on the power transformation project of inland waterway LNG ship in Guangdong Province.
According to the agreement, by 2025, Guangdong will complete the transformation of about 1,500 LNG conversion ships and the construction of 19 LNG bunkering stations.
After full completion, the annual demand of LNG will be about 400,000 tons, and the consumption of oil will be about 390,000 tons.
According to preliminary estimates, after the implementation of the project, the emissions of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter from ships in Guangdong can be reduced by 12.6 percent and 19.5 percent, respectively.
