A fire broke out onboard the Panama-flagged tanker HOYU in Singapore Waters xinde marine news 2019-11-08 09:07


At 1310hrs today, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was informed that a fire broke out onboard the Panama-flagged tanker, HOYU, around 9.7 nautical miles from Pedra Branca at latitude 01°25.30'N, longitude 104°32.48'E. The incident happened within Singapore Territorial Waters. Please refer to the attached map on the incident location.
 
The Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Police Coast Guard and the Republic of Singapore Navy have deployed vessels to render assistance to the HOYU crew. All 18 crew members have been safely evacuated, and the fire has been put out.
 
There were no reports of injury or pollution. Shipping traffic is unaffected. 
 
MPA is investigating the incident.
