China Sep LNG imports up 17.1% YoY xinde marine news 2019-10-24 10:58


China's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports climbed 17.1% year on year but fell 1.7% month on month to 5.1 million tonnes in September, customs data showed on October 23. 
 
LNG imports accounted for 62.1% of total natural gas imports in the month, expanding 4.8 percentage points from the same period last year. 
 
Total natural gas imports came in at 8.21 million tonnes in September, increasing 8% from the year-ago level yet falling 1.6% from a month ago, according to the General Administration of Customs. 
 
Gaseous natural gas imports declined 4.2% year on year and 1% month on month to 3.12 million tonnes in the month. 
 
The value of September's natural gas imports edged up 3.8% on the year to $3.44 billion, of which LNG amounted to $2.34 billion, up 3.2% year on year; gaseous natural gas at $1.11 billion, up 4.9%. 
 
In January-September, the country imported 71.22 million tonnes of natural gas, up 10% on the year. LNG imports stood at 43.39 million tonnes (17.4% YoY) and gaseous natural gas imports came in at 27.83 million tonnes (0.1% YoY). 
 
Natural gas imports were valued $31.08 billion in the first nine months, soaring 18.6% year on year. Value of LNG imports climbed 19.6% from a year ago to $20.99 billion while that of gaseous natural gas gained 16.6% to $10.09 billion.
