Global energy company Total and the leading Shanghai-headquartered smart energy technology company Envision Group have agreed to jointly develop on-site distributed generation solar projects for business-to-business (B2B) customers in China, sources reported recently.

The 50-50 joint venture will offer its clients a unique combination of distributed solar energy systems and digital solar energy solutions running on Envision's Artificial Internet of Things (AIoT) operating system.

This offer will allow clients to decarbonize their energy while reducing energy costs, optimizing and digitalizing energy management, and enhancing the safety and reliability of energy utilization, sources said.

Companies of the industrial and commercial sector account for approximately two-thirds of Chinese power consumption. More and more industrial and commercial clients are committed to 100% renewable power.

Envision has extensive expertise in digital energy platforms, wind and solar energy development, energy storage and vehicle-to-grid technology.

Total produces and markets fuels, natural gas and low-carbon electricity. It has integrated climate change into its strategy and expects low-carbon businesses to account for 15-20% of its sales by 2040, sources said.
