China's first LNG terminal receives over 1,000 ships of fuel xinde marine news 2019-07-25 14:43

Guangdong-based Dapeng LNG terminal, China's first LNG terminal, had received more than 1,000 ships of the fuel as of July 19 since its operation in 2006, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The terminal had received a total 67 million tonnes of LNG from 20 countries as of July 19, accounting for 27% of China's total LNG imports and 40% of imports by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).

Guangdong province expects its natural gas consumption to reach 28 billion cubic meters in 2020, with annual growth rate of 14.1%. This has driven local authorities to quicken construction of infrastructures.

By end-June this year, CNOOC had built Dapeng, Zhuhai, Yuedong and Shenzhen LNG terminals in Guangdong, with annual capacity combined at 16.3 million tonnes.

The group had also 1,283 km of natural gas pipeline and 323 km of urban gas pipeline, and supplied a total 118.9 cubic meters of gas to Guangdong. It is the largest gas supplier to Guangdong and has natural gas installed capacity of 6.23 GW.

Dapeng LNG terminal, with its service covering Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Foshan, Huizhou and Hong Kong, supplies nearly 60% of Guangdong's total consumption and 37% of Hong Kong's usage.

Its supplied natural gas could help reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 224 million tonnes, sulfur dioxide by 2 million tonnes and dust by 1.05 million tonnes.

As of end-2018, China had over 20 LNG terminals put into commercial operation, with annual receiving capacity of nearly 90 million tonnes.
