On June 27, the 2019 Conference for Cooperation between Hunan Province and Central State-owned Enterprises was held in Changsha. Mr. Du Jiahao, Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People’s Congress and Mr. Hao Peng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) addressed the conference. Mr. Xu Dazhe, Deputy Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hunan Province, delivered a welcome speech. Capt. Xu Lirong, Chairman and Party Secretary of COSCO SHIPPING, attended the conference.
In recent years, COSCO SHIPPING has deepened cooperation with Hunan province in shipping and logistics fields and increased investments in those fields, boosting the development of local shipping and shipping-related industries. With a focus on poverty alleviation through industrial development and employment, the corporation has provided more counterpart assistance to the province. Since it began to provide counterpart assistance in Yuanling County, Huaihua and Anhua County, Yiyang in 2010, COSCO SHIPPING has sent 17 officials holding a temporary poverty alleviation post and invested 94.83 million yuan as poverty-relief funds. It has implemented more than a hundred projects, involving education, infrastructure construction, development of characteristic industries and poverty alleviation, making outstanding contributions to local economic development and social harmony and stability. As a result, Anhua County was removed from the national poverty list in 2018, while Yuanling County is expected to shake off poverty this year.
