China Apr LNG imports up 35% YoY,GAC xinde marine news 2019-05-24 17:30


China's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports registered a surge of 35.1% from a year ago in April, latest customs data showed on May 23. 
 
China imported 4.54 million tonnes of LNG last month, growing 11.8% from a month earlier, according to the General Administration of Customs. 
 
China's natural gas imports totaled 7.65 million tonnes in April, increasing 12.7% from the year-ago level and 10.2% from a month ago. 
 
LNG imports accounted for 59.3% of total natural gas imports in April, expanding 9.6 percentage points from the same period last year and 0.8 percentage point from the previous month. 
 
Gaseous natural gas imports rose 9.3% year on year and 8% month on month to 3.11 million tonnes in the month. 
 
The value of April's natural gas imports rose 28.6% on the year to $3.3 billion, of which LNG amounted to $2.17 billion, up 40.3% year on year; gaseous natural gas at $1.14 billion, up 11%. 
 
The average import price of natural gas in April was calculated at $432/t, down $32.1/t month on month. LNG average price was $477/t, down $51.5/t on the month; gaseous natural gas at $366.2/t, sliding $7/t. 
 
In January-April, the country imported 31.89 million tonnes of natural gas, up 16.4% on the year. LNG imports stood at 19.45 million tonnes (23.7% YoY) and gaseous natural gas imports came in at 12.43 million tonnes (6.6% YoY). 
 
Natural gas imports valued $14.94 billion in the first four months, soaring 39.7% year on year. LNG imports value amounted to $10.37 billion, growing 45.7% on the year; value of intakes of gaseous natural gas gained 27.6% to $4.57 billion. 
 
China exported 160,000 tonnes of gaseous natural gas last month, down 3.1% on the year yet up 6.7% on the month, worth $81 million, up 12.9% year on year. The average export price was calculated at $507/t, up $32.3/t month on month.
