1.Miami-based SunStone Ships signed to build a sixth Infinity-class expedition vessel in China, continuing the European designed, Chinese built concept.The passengership operator said in a press release that it already has a long-term charter agreement in place. Delivery is set for September 2021.
 
2.Huadian Wenqiang, the Chinese self-elevating jack-up vessel, has installed its first turbine at an offshore wind project. According to Hengtong Group, the ship installed the turbine at the project site offshore Zhanjiang in the Guangdong Province on Tuesday, 9 April.
 
3.The General Administration of China Customs has seized 7.48 tons of elephant ivory - potentially the second biggest ivory seizure worldwide since detailed records were first compiled in 1989.
 
4.Presentations addressing the issue of seafarers’ welfare, delivered at the Duty of Care Conference in Hong Kong this week, offered reasons for despair but also for hope.
 
5.One of Hong Kong’s most prominent dynastic shipping companies, Valles Steamship has offloaded its last dry bulker, the panama ship, Silver Dragon for US$8.2m. 
 
6.China's crude oil futures settled lower on Tuesday.The most active contract for May 2019 delivery was lost 1.73 percent to 465.6 yuan per barrel, data from the Shanghai International Energy Exchange showed. 
 
7.The Port of Oakland announced that it will add new, directive service to Vietnam by late April. Pacific International Lines (PIL) will launch direct Vietnam links using vessels that can carry up to 11,900 twenty-foot containers. PIL’s new service is called AC5 and is in partnership with Cosco and Wan Hai.
 
8.Monaco-headquartered Scorpio Bulkers has agreed to the sale and leaseback of six ultramax vessels to China’s AVIC International Leasing.SBI Antares, SBI Bravo, SBI Hydra, SBI Leo, SBI Lyra and SBI Maia are the vessels being sold, with completion scheduled by the end of June.
