Fujian Pinghaiwan Phase 3 offshore wind farm gains approval xinde marine news 2019-03-04 14:29

The third phase of Pinghaiwan offshore wind farm project located in Putian of southeastern China's Fujian province has gained approval from the provincial development and reform commission.

The project involving a total investment of 6.2 billion yuan ($925 million) will install offshore wind turbines with single unit capacity at 6 MW or above, 312 MW in total.

The annual on-grid electricity of the farm is expected to reach 1.1 TWh when it is built, equaling full-load utilization hours of more than 3,600 hours.

The Putian Pinghaiwan offshore project is the first offshore wind power project in the wind-rich coastal province approved by the National Energy Administration.

The 50 MW first-phase project was put into operation in June 2016 and the 2nd phase with 250 MW is expected to be completed by end-2019.

The designed combined capacity of the whole project is 600 MW, which could generate 2.2 TWh of power per year, helping reduce 1.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
