Multi-award winning maritime lawyer, Rosita Lau, a senior partner at Ince, will be spearheading a group of her colleagues on a mission to Guangzhou in a demonstration of Hong Kong’s unparalleled arbitration capabilities.
With a clear eyed focus on the potential need for dispute resolution in the growing economy of the Greater Bay Area, Ms Lau, who recently picked up her latest of many awards (Seatrade’s Integration of Women in the Maritime Sector) has gathered together a talented team of arbitrators for a publicly held mock arbitration.
To be held at the Grand Hyatt in Guangzhou on 11 July, the mock arbitration simulates the actual operation of an international arbitration hearing under HKIAC rules. The multi-jurisdictional trade dispute involves mainland China, Hong Kong and England, as well as complex legal issues in international trade, shipping, insurance, sale and purchase agreement, etc.
In line with Greater Bay Area initiative the event takes advantage of Ince’s long-standing dispute resolution capabilities as well as Hong Kong’s role being a legal and dispute resolution hub, providing clients in this region, Asia Pacific and around the globe with all-around services in international arbitration. The event aims to provide attendees with an opportunity to experience the practical aspects of a common law arbitration hearing.
Among Ms Lau’s team from Ince offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Singapore who are scheduled to partake in the event are Paul Ho, chief representative of the Shanghai office and head of China, and Wai Yue Loh, chief representative of the Beijing office.
This rare occasion will be followed by a cocktail reception.
