Castle Peak Shipyards' Restructuring Gives Chance to NACKS

China-based Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) got its first new order in two years during the restructuring of Sinotrans & CSC Castle Peak Shipyards. Meanwhile, a 64,000-dwt bulk carrier built by Castle Peak Shipyards for Oldendorff was under finishing construction in Nantong delivery base on November 8th. 
NACKS is a large-scale shipbuilding joint venture between China COSCO Shipping Group and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. After several years’ development, NACKS has fostered and developed advantages in terms of talent, technology, and management. In the future, NACKS will further accelerate to upgrade products, and strive to become an important base of designing, developing, and manufacturing of high-level ships, and keep taking the lead in shipbuilding market.
Sources from TradeWinds says that Oldendorff Carriers has commissioned Nacks to construct three 61,000-dwt geared bulkers. Nacks projected to deliver these ultramax ships in 2019. The specific price is not announced even this order was signed some time ago, however, market participants estimate each vessel will cost about $24.8m. 
 
Clarkson data shows that the last order for NACKS was signed at the end of 2015 when “K”LINE ordered two VLCCs. The first of the two VLCCs will be delivered this month and the other will be delivered in May next year.
