Shanghai Dingheng Shipping orders 16 chemical tankers at Xinle, negotiating for 10 more
Chinese tanker owner Shanghai Dingheng Shipping has commenced a significant expansion of its tanker fleet at Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding, planning to add a total of 26 chemical tankers.
Dingheng Shipping will bring in six chemical tankers made up of three 7,500 dwt tankers, two 13,200 dwt tankers and a 16,500 dwt tanker from Xinle under a 10 year bareboat charter deal. The six vessels are expected to join
Dingheng's fleet in the next few months.
Dingheng has also signed shipbuilding contracts with Xinle for the construction of ten 9,000 dwt chemical tankers.
Financial terms of the initial deals were not disclosed, and the two parties are currently in talks and have intentions for an additional order of ten 6,000 dwt chemical tankers.
Dingheng Sgipping primarily operates within the domestic coastal and river chemical shipping business with a fleet of over 20 small chemical tankers ranging from 1,800 dwt to 4,000 dwt. It also has four 8,500 dwt chemical tankers and two 13,000 dwt chemical tankers under construction at nantong Tongbao Shipbuilding, with deliveries scheduled before the end of this year.
