A naval sea drill was successfully held between China and six ASEAN countries in the South China Sea on Monday. The exercise focused on search and rescue in the sea.
There were 20 vessels, three planes and over 1,000 people participating in the drill, which marked the first time China and the ASEAN countries have conducted a large-scale maritime search and rescue mission.

The two sides hope the operation will enhance maritime cooperation, and increase the safety of life at sea.
