China's most advanced manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi or Deep Sea Warrior reached a milestone on Wednesday as it completed its 100th dive in the southwestern part of the Indian Ocean.
In its most recent mission, Shenhai Yongshi dived for nearly eight hours to a depth of 2,774 meters to explore the deep-sea hydrothermal systems and collect samples of hydrothermal vents.
The Deep Sea Warrior is China's self-developed submersible with 95% of the manned submersible made in China. Several key domestic devices, including the manned cabin, underwater acoustic communication system and acoustic Doppler velocity log, show advanced performance and steady technical condition.
