China's 1st Oceaneering Digital Center completes in N.China xinde marine news 2018-12-06 17:35

After 10 years of construction, China's first Oceaneering Digital Center was officially put into use in north China's Tianjin Municipality on Tuesday.

The center, equipped with many advanced facilities, such as 360-degree panoramic spherical screen projection system and semi-physical simulation ship operation platform, integrated with self-developed virtual simulation system, will be used in simulating offshore engineering projects before these projects are put into operation.

"At present, this center mainly involved the simulation of seaborne lifting, floatover, sub-sea installation and engineering ship operation. We're also capable of conducting integrated exercises of offshore operation and group exercises to ensure the success of our projects," said Jin Xiaojian, president of Offshore Oil Engineering Co,. Ltd (COOEC).

The offshore engineering operation involves high technology, high investment and high risk. In order to reduce the risk, simulations are needed for all major projects. In the past such facilities were unavailable in China, we had to do simulation operation abroad, which is not only time consuming, but also very expensive, costing several million yuan for each.

"The center now could simulate the complete process of the actual offshore operation, and the verification of this process helps us to raise the efficiency of offshore operation and reduce the risk," said Yin Hanjun, president of the Designing Institute under the COOEC.

The center can not only undertake the trial demonstration of marine engineering project, but also can be used for professional personnel training, thus helping to boost the digital and intelligent transformation of the marine engineering industry and enhancing China's capacity for designing, manufacturing and development of marine engineering products.
