Drewry survey shows concern over fuel cost and transparency xinde marine news 2018-10-12 16:16

There is much unease among global shippers and forwarders ahead of the IMO's 2020 global emissions regulations, due to come into force in January 2020, according to a survey by London's Drewry Maritime Research.

Concern was expressed about carriers' methods of fuel cost recovery by 56 per cent of respondents, stating that they did not consider their service providers' existing approaches as either fair or transparent.

Further to this, 80 per cent of the shippers and beneficial cargo owners polled said they had yet to receive clarity on how fuel cost increases would be met.
