The World Dream cruise, which is in service for Asia’s luxury cruise line Dream Cruises, made its maiden voyage from Shekou Cruise Homeport on Monday.

The ship will offer a number of voyages departing from Shenzhen, including three-day trips at sea that leave Friday and Nov. 23. Passengers can escape the bustling city to enjoy a weekend holiday with friends and family members without needing extra time off.

A six-day trip to Vietnam will set sail from Shekou on Nov. 18. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely trip while exploring Southeast Asia.

The giant boat has a gross tonnage of 150,695 tons. It is 335 meters long, 40 meters wide and 18 decks tall.

With 1,686 rooms, guests can enjoy the journey in pure comfort, with European bed linen, designer-brand bath amenities, and over 70 percent of the staterooms featuring private balconies. The ship boasts over 35 restaurants, casinos, cabins and entertainment, all designed for Asian tastes.

“Shenzhen’s cruise market has been flourishing since the opening of Shekou Cruise Homeport two years ago,” said Wu Wei, general manager of Shekou Cruise Homeport, adding that the World Dream cruise ship will greatly enhance the awareness and satisfaction of tourists concerning cruise ships.

“Dream Cruises is honored to establish Shenzhen as our latest World Dream cruise ship’s homeport,” said Thatcher Brown, president of Dream Cruises. “We will focus on synergies in the development of the cruise industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and make the development of the cruise market a new height.”
