The highly anticipated 16th SAFETY4SEA Athens Forum will take place as a full-day event on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Lighthouse of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens. As a non-profit initiative, the forum is expected to welcome around 400 attendees representing 200 organizations, including professionals from the Safety, Technical, and Marine departments of shipping companies and other key maritime stakeholders.
The SAFETY4SEA Athens Forum continues to serve as a leading platform for maritime dialogue and collaboration. Hosted at the state-of-the-art Lighthouse venue at SNFCC, the forum will once again bring together industry leaders to share insights into the latest developments, trends, and best practices in maritime safety.
The event also seeks to promote international cooperation and support the growth and sustainability of the Greek maritime sector. Greece remains a dominant force in global shipping, maintaining one of the world’s largest newbuilding orderbooks. According to a recent report by the Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS), Greek shipowners manage approximately 20% of the global fleet, a figure that rises significantly in specific segments.
As the shipping industry navigates a landscape shaped by geopolitical tensions, supply chain security concerns, and rapid technological advancements, maritime safety remains a top priority. Seafarers, as the backbone of ship operations, continue to play a critical role.
“The SAFETY4SEA Athens Forum serves as an essential gathering for maritime professionals, offering a collaborative environment to address safety, regulatory, and environmental challenges facing the industry,” said Apo Belokas, Managing Editor at SAFETY4SEA. “We are excited to renew our annual commitment in October, as we have done since the inaugural forum in 2010, to engage stakeholders in meaningful discussions and highlight the industry's priorities in navigating the challenges ahead.”
