Philippine ferry caught fire caused at least seven people died Xinde Marine News 2022-05-23 13:25

On May 23th, according to Philippine Coast Guard, a ferry carrying 142 people caught fire while heading to a town in Quezon province of Luzon, forcing passengers and crew to jump overboard.
 
At least seven people are dead and 30 others are missing.
 
The ferry, Mercraft 2, set off from Polillo Island in Quezon province at 5 a.m. local time, heading for a port in the town of Real, when it caught fire about 900 meters from the port.
 
A search and rescue operation by the PCG is underway. 105 passengers have been rescued, three of whom have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
 
The PCG's rescue work is still underway and further investigation will be conducted into the cause of the fire.
