The world-renowned financial magazine "Fortune" officially released "China's 50 Most Influential Business Leaders in 2022", Lei Fanpei, Chairman of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, was rated as China's most influential business leaders in 2022.
"Fortune" commented that in 2021, China's shipbuilding industry became the biggest beneficiary of the chaos in the global supply chain. The number of global container ship orders has increased by more than 10 times compared with 2020, and China has undertaken more than 50% of the orders, surpassing South Korea to become the world's largest shipbuilding country.
For the first time, China State Shipbuilding Corporation under the leadership of Lei Fanpei has surpassed South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries to become the world's largest shipbuilding company. CSSC delivered 206 ships in 2021, accounting for 20.2% of the global order volume, and the new order value reached 20.49 billion US dollars, setting a new record since 2008.
China State Shipbuilding Corporation, which achieved a joint reorganization in 2019, moved its headquarters from Beijing to Shanghai in December 2021 with the goal of being "world-class".
After the shipbuilding peak in 2021, global shipping capacity is expected to become surplus in the next two years, and the industry urgently needs to find a path to decarbonization.
