Transportation demand remained high, and North American routes continued to rise
 
Ningbo Containerized Freight Index: In the week ending Aug-13, Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) issued by Ningbo Shipping Exchange (NBSE) quotes 3817.6 points, slightly up by 2.2% against last week. Meanwhile, thirteen of the selected twenty-one routes maintain an upward trend while other six have fallen and one keeps steady. In addition, according to the freight indices of the primary ports along the Maritime Silk Road, twelve ports appear a constant rising tendency while other five are declining.

Europe and Mediterranean routes: The shipping space was still progressing, but the difficulty of picking up containers had decreased compared with the previous period. Therefore, the freight rate of the route continued to fluctuate steadily. This week, freight index in the route from Ningbo-Europe quotes 5915.2 points, increasing 0.8% from one week ago. Freight indices in the routes from Ningbo to East Mediterranean and West Mediterranean quote 4150.1 points and 5324.5 points, reducing by 0.5% and having a decrease of 0.8% against last week respectively.

North America route: The market transportation demand continued to be strong, shipping space was very tight, and spot freight rate continued to rise. This week, freight indices in the routes from Ningbo to East America and West America quote 2806.9 points and 3967.8 points, increasing by 7.7% and climbing by 3.0% from one week ago respectively.

Mideast route: The supply and demand fundamentals of the routes were generally stable, and the space of some routes was tight, and the market freight rates increased slightly. This week, freight index in the route from Ningbo-Mideast quotes 3570.7 points, having a week-on-week increase of 4.3% compared with last week.

India and Pakistan route: The market cargo volume continued to recover, the supply side was under the control of the carriers, and the space became gradually tight. Therefore, the market booking price continued to rise. This week, freight index in the route from Ningbo to India &Pakistan route quotes 4567.5 points, up by 8.7% against last week.
