Proman, headquartered in Switzerland, announced on June 30 that it will add another 49,900 dwt methanol dual-fuel MR tanker, which will increase the number of methanol dual-fuel tankers it has invested in to six.

The two new ships, christened "Provident" and "Progressive", are still under construction at Guangzhou Shipyard International and are scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2023.

The new ship uses MAN B&W 6G50ME-C9.6 MW Tier III engines and uses approximately 12,500 tons of methanol as fuel per year. Compared with conventional marine fuel, methanol can reduce SOx by more than 95%, NOx by 60%, and carbon dioxide emissions by 10-15%.

Previously, Guangzhou Shipyard International and Proman signed an order for 2+2 49,900 dwt methanol dual-fuel tankers in December 2019.
