COSCO Shipping's 5 millionth container is offline! xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-06-04 15:22

On June 2, the 5 millionth container produced by the container manufacturing plant of COSCO Shipping was put off the production line in Qidong container manufacturing plant, which is another leap development of the container manufacturing sector of COSCO Shipping Group.

COSCO SHIPPING's container plant produced a total of 1 million containers in 2011, 2 million containers in 2015, and 3 million containers in 2018.

From January to April this year, COSCO's container manufacturing sector completed 346,000 TEU of new containers, up 116% year on year.

COSCO Shipping started its container manufacturing business in 2005. In 2019, COSCO Shipping acquired the core and main container factory of the former Hong Kong listed company Singamas Container Holdings Limited, which rapidly increased the strength of the container manufacturing sector and became the world's second largest container manufacturing enterprise.

At present, the six modern factories of COSCO Shipping container manufacturing section cover the main ports from south to north, and are laid out in the key areas with high demand and convenient transportation, which effectively controls the transportation cost and improves the regional advantages.
